  CHILDHOOD.  

  FIVE YEARS OLD.     :  mauri and her mom find a wounded puppy in their backyard. they bring her inside and clean her up. in the morning, they find a little girl in place of the puppy. the girl has no memories of who she is except for her name, kasia. they take the young shapeshifter in.  NINE YEARS OLD.     : mauri discovers her own abilities. she can make electronics turn on and off and control them to an extent. her mother legally adopts kasia and supports the girls in learning to control their powers.  THIRTEEN YEARS OLD.     : mauri begins to sense a strong technological presence. she feels the electric currents, way too powerful for anything normal, surrounding them wherever they go—her and her sister, that is. someone is watching them. she doesn’t know who they are, and it’s years before she ever finds out. she thinks it’s because of kasia’s inability to control “feral”, the beast inside of her, who had already taken the lives of several neighborhood pets and a homeless man.

  ADOLESENCE.  

  #FOURTEEN Y/O.     :   kasia (17) and mauri are invited to study at the xavier institute for gifted youngsters. kasia is against it, but reluctantly goes at mauri’s request. there, the girls learn and train. mauri excels, learning more about her powers and their extent. she learns how to hack internally (using only her mind) and finds she has a knack for computer engineering.  #FIFTEEN Y/O.     :   a few weeks after mauri’s 15th birthday, her mother is found dead in their new orleans home. mauri has a breakdown, causing a power outage in the mansion. kasia goes missing for two days. it is 'feral' who is found – eyes a golden red, teeth sharp and claws at the ready – by kasia’s boyfriend. in trying to bring her back into focus, he is killed. mauri manages to give 'feral' an electric shock hard enough to knock her out, but her heroic deed is nothing compared to the death of her friend. the sisters are shunned by the other students, heated whispers and hateful glares following their every move. they leave the institute together.kasia, being of age, inherits the house. mauri asks her to sell it, unable to live with the memory of their mother and not have her there, and the two end up settling in a small town outside of new york city. mauri still senses the people watching her, but she doesn’t care much anymore. she becomes withdrawn and quiet, the opposite of her normal self. she gets her ged and starts working to help kasia with bills.out of boredom, mauri starts trying to hack into high profile databases, such as nasa and the white house. she succeeds, only going so far before she’s detected, but it’s fun, and she slowly starts becoming herself again.  #NINETEEN Y/O.     :   mauri discovers a specific electrical signature by the people watching them. she starts looking into government agencies databases, trying to find something, but comes up with nothing.

  ADULTHOOD.  

  #TWENTY-ONE.     :   mauri finally breaks through whatever firewalls the people watching them are using. this does not go unnoticed by said people – S.H.I.E.L.D. – and mauri and kasia are taken in by agents to an unknown location. mauri, armed with the knowledge of their identity and some lower level files, demands to be told why they’ve been watching her for so long. the agents give her nothing except an ultimatum: cooperate or be tried for their crimes.  #TWENTY-TWO.     :   kasia and mauri had been separated, studied and watched carefully for an entire year, held in a “dormitory” of sorts. S.H.I.E.L.D. was careful to ensure mauri couldn’t trace their location. she never learned how they disabled her powers.when deemed not a threat, mauri is released and told that kasia escaped and her whereabouts are unknown. when mauri threatens to release classified information to the public, she is offered a job at SHIELD and in return, a search team will be sent to look for kasia. mauri accepts, using her closeness to the agency to get inside further. later that year, she meets henry sturges, who sees her abilities much more useful in S.H.I.E.L.D.s tech department.  #TWENTY-THREE.     :   mauri is working in the tech department for a little less than a year when aliens attack new york city. afterwards, as the city rebuilds and S.H.I.E.L.D. mourns the loss of agent coulson, mauri does anything she can to start training as a field agent.  #TWENTY-FOUR.     :   SHIELD falls to hydra, and its secrets are leaked. mauri discovers that kasia has been tucked away at 'the fridge', a secure S.H.I.E.L.D. facility and prison. after reuniting, mauri convinces kasia that she isn’t hydra and the two escape hydra agents and go off the radar as SHIELD collapses.not off the radar enough, mauri is found and asked to join the new S.H.I.E.L.D. under agent coulon’s direction. she just barely agrees, after some convincing from daisy. her abilities prove to be invaluable during a time when no one knows who they can trust. kasia leaves to be on her own for a while, unable to understand why mauri would stay with S.H.I.E.L.D.

  AFTER S.H.I.E.L.D.  

  #TWENTY-SIX.     :   mauri retires as a field agent – but not before kicking some ultron ass; hello, she’s basically human ai – and instead offers her hacking services to help fight the corruption hydra left behind in S.H.I.E.L.D. all over the world.  #TWENTY-SEVEN.     :   with the avengers split in a civil war, mauri's skills are sought after by the black widow, and she helps however she can. from behind a computer, of course.she is invited back to xavier institute, where she reconciles with her past and begins teaching there, all the while continuing to expose corruption in the government and their agencies.  #TWENTY-EIGHT.     :   mauri taylor becomes a household name in the tech world. gracing the front pages of time, wired, and people magazines. interviews with late night talk show hosts and advocating for change in this broken world. it’s no surprise she makes some enemies.an attack at a rally leaves mauri gravely injured. with head trauma so severe there is significant brain damage from internal bleeding and swelling, as well as 3rd degree burns to portions of her left side, her chances of survival were slim. thankfully, she still has friends at S.H.I.E.L.D. and she is fixed right up with cybernetic enhancements. parts of her brain, her right eye, and her left arm and leg are replaced with high tech prosthetics, enhancing her technopathy tenfold.  #TWENTY-NINE.     :   aliens attack new york city. this time is different, though. soon, half the world’s population is gone, and mauri is gone with them.
